General Information:
Consisting of a Uni-Shank, Uni-Shroud, and Uni-Tip, Kenco Engineering's Uni-Mix System offers many advantages over conventional pugmill mixing systems. Uni-Mix is designed to increase asphalt mixer efficiency through fast, easy installation, longer wearlife, and superior mixing performance. Product literature (PDF).
Uni-Mix parts are available for all popular asphalt pugmill models including Astec, Barber-Greene, CMI, Cedarapids, H&B, Madsen, McCarter, Stansteel (Standard Steel), and more. Uni-Mix is also an excellent choice for drum mix coaters and lime pugmill mixers.
Features and Benefits:
- Parts fit both left- and right-hand throw, eliminating need for separate inventories
- 90 degree rotation of Uni-Shank bolts allows components to slice through the mix with less friction and wear
- Uni-Tips are fastened by a single roll pin and can be removed in just 5 minutes
- Installation and removal of Uni-Tips can be done with an air hammer
- Lightweight design makes installation easier
- Uni-Shrouds provide maximum shank protection in high wear area below tips
- Uni-Tips and Uni-Shrouds are cast from Kenco Alloy-K with a hardness of 550 Brinell. (Optionally available in 700 Brinell.)
FAQ'S:
Must the entire pugmill be converted to Uni-Mix at the same time?
No. Paired Uni-Mix sets can be installed anywhere in the pugmill, right alongside OEM parts.
Why is there more than one notch on Uni-Shanks?
Several notches are cast in Uni-Shanks to accommodate special liner thickness, modifications to OEM plant dimensions, or individual preference of tip-to-liner clearance. After installing Uni-Mix parts, always ensure proper clearance exists between Uni-Tips and liners before mixing production begins.
